Vintage Taboo Review

Vintage Taboo claims to deliver porn for the connoisseur and it's certainly no ordinary porn site. The bulk of the content is from both the by-gone and hey-days of the golden age of porn and for those of you that can't get enough of classic photos from the 1890's to the 1970's or videos from as early as the beginning of the 20th century, VintageTaboo offers a huge collection and for a truly reasonable price.

You'll find a relatively basic, but relatively organized layout. There aren't advanced search features, but the categories are well-defined making the browsing easy enough. There is a menu list of categories and there are icon buttons directing you to the same categories, which include pre-1920s and the various decades up to the 1970s and including a small amount from the early seventies.

There are also a couple of additional main categories like funnies, native girls, magazines, burlesque and of course, movies. The decade categories house photos and these are further divided into sub-categories that include blowjobs, cheesecake, fetish and hardcore, amongst others. I can see how some individuals might not really enjoy the navigation, bet personally I found it suited my needs and I had a lot of fun feeling like I was exploring through a near century of porn.

It doesn't look like you'll be able to use a download manager, which may suck for some, but this is an inexpensive site with some specialized photos and videos. There are 614 movies and you'll find that the number of movies increases with each decade. The same goes with the photos. So far, there are 1137 sets plus extras in the special categories of stars, magazines and illustrations. There is an ample amount, but it's hard to tell just how frequently the site updates. I know you can at least expect something new every week, although I'm fairly certain that there are more than simply four updates a month.

What tends to be a little inconsistent is the quality. I can certainly understand that vintage material is hard to control when it comes to quality, after all, the end result can only be as good as the original. I imagine the site acquires content from various sources and therefore this would be a reason for the inconsistency as well. Still, I didn't see blurry photographs, even in the pre-1900s sets there are some decent-looking pictures. A lot of the photos tend to be around 800x600, but this is more an average than an actual standard.

Earlier movies have a grainier quality that the films produced in the 1950's, for example, but even when you get into the 1970s you're looking at some grainy videos. One has to remember that the medium most often used, at least during the later years, was 16mm film, which have a natural grainy quality anyhow. There are some truly sexy and mostly erotic pictures and there is even a whole gallery of some of the most notable stars like June Palmer, Chesty Morgan, Tempest Storm and, of course, Betty Page. There are also unique categories like the Native Indian nude collection and aside from fetish and erotica, there are hardcore and lesbian collections. All the videos appear to be MPEG formats and while 480x272 seems to be a standard size, the bit-rate can vary between 824 and 1500kbps. It's not high definition, but then I wasn't expecting it.

Final Verdict

They certainly don't do porn like they used to and if this is pretty much your motto, then Vintage Taboo is a great site to have. It may not have the best navigation or even consistent quality, but considering everything there is a really great selection of classic erotica, fetish and porn pictures and videos and even some content that you might not find anywhere else. For the price, fans really can't go wrong with Vintage Taboo.
